MADERA - There are three days in the books for the 2012 edition of the Madera District Fair. On Saturday the community gathered to support the kids from the FFA and 4H with the Junior Livestock Auction.

CHOWCHILLA - Last year Governor Jerry Brown bloodied the noses of the local fairs around the State of California by yanking their state funding. Despite the fact that this funding allowed local fairs to generate more than $150 million dollars in tax revenue, the governor thought the state fairs could do without $32 million in subsides and seed money.

I guess the Madera County Fair showed the governor they can survive just fine without him. The 2012 edition of the Madera County Fair shut its gates Sunday night to record numbers for its four day run. Last year the fair was open five days.
