ORANGE COVE - Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the suspect(s) responsible for the deaths of 27 year old Alex Esquivel and 24 year old Javier Lizaola.

Around 8:00 pm on Friday, two juveniles were leaving a store located off Park Blvd. in Orange Cove when they heard gunshots. As they walked home, they found two men injured on the ground near a bike trail at Railroad Ave. and 11th Street.

The juveniles immediately went home and notified their family members to call law enforcement to help the injured men. Officers with the Orange Cove Police Department responded and determined both men, Esquivel and Lizaola, had been shot and were deceased.

Officers established a crime scene and requested the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office to take over this homicide investigation.

FSO detectives and members of its Crime Scene Unit arrived to collect evidence and interview witnesses. A motive has not been determined and no arrests have been made.
