MADERA - The tenth commencement exercise for Madera South High School took to the air with drone cameras and big screen video displays. Now the parents of the graduating seniors could see their students up close when they received their diplomas on the stage. And as their students marched in to the stadium at the beginning of the ceremony, a camera hovering at 500 feet gave a birds-eye view of the students as the marched to their seats.

"Learn from yesterday, live for today and dream for tomorrow" was the theme of this years graduation as speakers including David Vargas,  Patsy Mejia, Angelica Costillas and Brandon Valdez delivered the message with their student speeches.

Former Madera South Student and now Martin Luther King Jr. Historian Ms. Tenisha Armstrong gave the keynote speech that kept every student glued to her next word.

Then senior class president Shai Yah announced that an eight foot tall statue of a majestic Stallion would be placed near the outdoor stage as the class present for 2016.

Following the presentation of diplomas from the Madera Unified Board of Trustees graduates and parents were treated to a fifteen minute fireworks show over the baseball field. Then it was off to their futures for the grads following a stop back at the high school for the California Highway Patrol's Sober Graduation Party.
