FRESNO – The Fresno Tacos (nee, Grizzlies) have had enough. Fed up (pun intended) after months of back and forth on Twitter, the organization announced at a press conference the morning of (Taco) Tuesday, March 21 that they’re making the “Bacon vs. Tacos” competition official with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, and their bizarre bacon fetish. No longer will the Taco Capital of The World be disrespected without consequence.

The two organizations have made waves on the promotional front the last several seasons, especially as it concerns food that makes each region unique. While it was the “Fresno Tacos” taking home the Golden Bobblehead for Minor League Baseball’s top promotion in 2015, the “Lehigh Valley Cheesesteaks” followed suit, winning the award in 2016. So it’s high time things
are settled to see who is really number one (the Tacos).

Detectives Arrest Local Teacher for Having Sex with a Minor Print E-mail

FRESNO - On Thursday, detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Sex Crimes Unit arrested 40 year old Michael Dean Morton of Fresno. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony charge of unlawful sex with a minor. He has since posted the necessary bond to bail out of jail.

Earlier this week, detectives received a report that Michael Morton had been involved in a sexual relationship with a former student at Central West High School. The alleged activity took place in 2015, shortly after the 17 year old girl had graduated from Central West. Detectives conducted interviews and developed enough information to arrest Morton.

Armed Man Lying in Wait Pulls Off Robbery at Caruthers Store Print E-mail

CARUTHERS - Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the man who committed an armed robbery inside the Dollar General Store located at 13428 S. Henderson Road in Caruthers. He is described as being white, 5’7”, 185 lbs.

On Saturday, March 11th, the suspect entered the store at about 9:50 pm. Around 10:00 pm, two store employees finished helping their final customers and locked the doors to prepare to close the store for the night. The employees did not know that the suspect remained inside the store, hiding in the back storage room.

FSO Ag Task Force Detectives Arrest Man for Stealing & Selling Farm Equipment Print E-mail

MENDOTA - Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Ag Task Force have arrested 61 year old David Kenneth Brisco of Dos Palos. On March 10th, he was booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony charges of burglary, vehicle theft, grand theft and receiving stolen property. His bail has been set at $55,000.

On February 25th, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary on the 30000 block of W. Whitesbridge Ave. in Mendota. Deputies learned that several items were missing from the property. This included a Caterpillar road grader (est. value $5,000), 2,000 gallon steel water storage tank (est. value $3,000), chain link fencing & rolling gates (est. value $4,500) and a John Deere hydraulic row disk (est. value $10,000). This was a total loss of $22,500.

FSO Detectives Investigating Double Homicide in Orange Cove Print E-mail

ORANGE COVE - Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the suspect(s) responsible for the deaths of 27 year old Alex Esquivel and 24 year old Javier Lizaola.

Around 8:00 pm on Friday, two juveniles were leaving a store located off Park Blvd. in Orange Cove when they heard gunshots. As they walked home, they found two men injured on the ground near a bike trail at Railroad Ave. and 11th Street.
