Bulldogs Fall to Ole Miss 38-28 Print E-mail

Fresno State – The Fresno State Bulldogs hosted the Rebels from the University of Mississippi Saturday night. This was the first time a team from the South Eastern Conference, considered by many to be the best football conference in the country, played in Bulldog Stadium.

From the onset it was a see-saw game with eight lead changes on the evening in front of an announced attendance of 32,000. For most of the evening there was a one point margin in the score, then Dogs didn’t show up for the fourth quarter and Ole Miss racked up 11 unanswered points for a 38-28 final score.

Madera – Five years ago at Radcliff Stadium Scott Donegan fielded his first football team to take on the Madera Coyotes for the new Madera South High School. Then it was a junior varsity team because the school did not have a varsity team. The young Stallion team stomped the JV Coyotes that night but for the next four years Donegan and his varsity teams could not get past their Stadium Road rival. Friday night that all changed.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Fresno State – It has become a tradition at Fresno State that before each home game the school’s marching band plays their rendition of “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”. That song describes this game. The Good, Robbie Rouse and Jalen Saunders (2 touchdowns each). The Bad, Derek Carr and the Fresno State running game (110 yards rushing). The Ugly, the way Bulldogs nearly gave up this game to the North Dakota Fighting Sioux, an opponent they should have dominated from the start of the game.

Madera -  The Madera Old Timers Day Parade stepped off Saturday morning with Don and Katie Warnock as this years grand marshals. Hundreds of Maderan's lined the sidewalks of East Yosemite Avenue as hundreds of participants marched from Flume Street to G Street across from the Madera County Court House Park.

The Madera Fair Ends Successful Four Day Run Print E-mail

Madera -  The Madera District Fair ended it's four day run Sunday night. Crowds of Maderan's hit the carnival for the ten dollar wristband day and the fair saw record attendance. Two concerts, Billy Currington and OneRepublic sold out before the fair began and rock fans partied down to an American Band: Grand Funk Railroad.
